Animators Unite, Inc. was incorporated August 28, 2001 as a non-profit company in the hopes of fostering the animation industry in New York. We founded the corporation on the goal of achieving an East Coast animation union, similar to Hollywood’s MPSC #839. The New York union collapsed in the 1980’s, and was primarily a ink and paint union. Animators Unite does not hope to be the New York Union but only supports the effort and the effort of forming a collective of artistic thought, utilizing the internet as a medium. We have found over the past few months that we are becoming more of an international organization than a New York one.
Over all our goals are continuously developing to address the needs of our 300 registered members and those in a collective of over 2,900 international visits a month. We hope to change along with the needs of the industry. Presently we provide membership, free of charge, to any one who signs up and submits a valid email address. The member then receives a welcome letter and our monthly newsletter. If the member chooses to, they may participate on our message board and access jobs on our job board.
Animators Unite is proud to be financially supported by the Visual Arts Foundation, a part of School of Visual Arts. However that accounts for 1/3 of our annual income, the rest is then picked up by the staff and now, site visitors. We hope that some of our visitors would also be interested in being patrons of Animators Unite. Any amount of money will earn you a permanent place on our [ sponsors ] page as a patron. All contributions to the corporation are tax deductable to the extent permitted by law. Even if you can only give a few dollars, we appreciate it.
Your donation will go to web hosting expenses, domain renewals, advertising and promotion, and other business expenses. We are presently a Volunteer based company, however sometimes the need arises to hire freelance work.
We hope that Animators Unite can grow further and that you can be a part of that growth and development of a new community.
