I just wanted to thank you so much for posting that piece about foreign animators in Japan. I have wanted to live and animate in Japan for a very long time, and I even studied abroad there for a month. I’m currently in my first year of college, but I have been wondering where I would begin to ensure I have good qualifications to get an animation job in Japan. I’m thinking about taking a year to study the language there at Temple University. I also tried looking for animation schools there, but you’ve cleared up why I can’t find any. I’ve been getting very disheartened about the whole thing because I have no one I can really talk to that could advise me on what to do, and anyone I talk to says it’s an impossible dream (or at least a very rare occurence.) What you wrote brought my spirits up though, so thank you. I definately never thought of giving up! Even if it’s a hard and difficult aspiration. I was going to try and finish college in Japan and work right out of college, but now I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do that. Anyway, if you have any advice as to what I should do please share it with me. I’m sorry this is so long.
