Chuck Jones Passes Away

chuckjonespic.jpgOn February 22, 2002 Chuck Jones, the creator of Warner Bros. characters Wile E. Coyote, Marvin the Martian, Road Runner, Pepe le Pew, Sam and Michigan J. Frog, passed away at 89. He died at Corona Del Mar, CA, of congestive heart failure. His recent accomplishments include sponsoring Apple Computers and US Animation’s Toon Boom Studio, with which he produced a web short of his new character Thomas T. Wolf. He also directed “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and the “Phantom Tollbooth”. Chuck Jones also received three Academy Awards for some of his short films.

The animation industry is greatly saddened by his passing. This is the second time in the past few months that someone so talented and influential passed away, including the passing of Faith Hubley.

The Jones family will be holding a private memorial, probably at Newport Beach. We will keep you up to date with further developments.
